DO NOT get an account with this bank. Their staff is uninformative and will cost you money. I've had my deposits held longer than the usual time frame causing payments to bounce. Recently I deposited a settlement check into my account. I was told by their customer service that I could atm deposit it. 2 days later they flagged my account and started accusing me of trying to cash a fraudulent check. I went to the bank after their foreign barely English speaking fraud team threatened to close my account over this, to get real help from my local branch.
Again I was accused of trying to deposit a fraudulent check from out of state. My attorney's office, not only offered the contact number to the bank, but also screen shot the check that they sent and proved it had already been authorized and cleared. That wasn't enough. They wanted to see detail numbers of how my money was that amount from my lawsuit.
Mind you, I haven't had a single transaction issue with this bank. They even froze my special needs son's account not allowing any access to any money. I was told It could take up to 3 days before they decide to close my account or release my funds. So for now, I'm at the mercy of this horrible bank while they keep close to a large sum of money that belongs to me. So please go elsewhere. Save yourself the headache. I wish I would have read the reviews before I joined this bank.

Went in for a loan, the hoops you have to jump thru are ridiculous for a business loan. Would settle for personal loan, but they loan nothing less that 2000 dollars, which is ok, I guess, but they didn't deny me due to my credit at all: they denied me due to inquiries that shouldn't even be there and they took it upon themselves to say that they don't think that I can pay them 40 dollars a month.
I hate to break it to them, but they are not God and they don't know that. Every one of my debts are paid, with very little exception and I don't owe anybody anything, other than small hospital bills, but that's not the issue. No, the issue is actually helping to make sure that a human being can afford the things that he needs, while having proven themselves to in fact be reliable. What a trash service.

All I needed was to reset my pin. I reset my pin and it connected me to some woman who WOULD NOT LISTEN, COMPREHEND, OR FIX THE ISSUE. Kept telling me that I could not reset my pin because there was pin usage within the last 30 days when my account has not been used in the past 3 months. Then kept telling me that she needed more and more personal information from me (information that she had no business asking for) Horrible customer service, horrible bank.

Horrible, Horrible bank. The absolute worst customer service I have ever dealt with. The employees at the Black Mountain branch are clueless and incompetent. The person named Bre could not even apply a check to our account we were paying off in full. Took FOREVER to just apply an insurance check and remaining cash to get the account PAID IN FULL. Never doing anything business-wise with these people again.

Did you know that as a new customer of them you should wait 2 weeks, when you deposit your first check or may be that’s rule it’s not for everyone! Horrible bank, my card will be on trash. Never again. Worst bank in America.

Fifth Third reopened a closed account to initiate a transfer, then accused the receiving bank of initiating the transfer. Of course, a closed account has a zero balance, which triggered overdraft fees that exceeded the transfer. Took 6 months to resolve. Absolute nightmare. Deal with a reputable bank.

Fifth Third Bank has failed to explain their policy for account holders who have died while maintaining a safe deposit box and bank account in excess of $35k. Account holder died suddenly at home in Bradenton Florida, and was evicted posthumously from mobile home, which I purchased at auction 9 months later from corporation. All his banking information was in the home, safe deposit box keys, etc. He had family in another country. Fifth Third Bank doesn't care. I have been trying to get some kind of answer for almost a year. Is this fraud?

When I came into this branch a few weeks ago to set up an account Juanisha ** helped me and seem very friendly and outgoing and was good experience, that all changed today as I tried to activate my debit card and I could not do so it was telling me my ss. And date of birth was invalid, after 2 attempts it connected me to customer service. The customer service representative said that the ss. # does not match the one on the acct. I would have to go to the branch to fix it and she could activate my debit card, then tells me she is going to connect me to the automated line to activate the card. I stated, "It will not work. That's why I am on the phone with you and if the s.s. # does not match it will not activate." She claims it would put me back to the automated system. That of course did not work.
Put me back to customer service, then the new representative asks me to verify the co signer's name on the acct. which now changed everything as I had no co signer on the acct. Went into the bank alone to set up the acct.. So now I have a card I can not activate, a s.s. # not matching mine on the account and now possible a co signer on my account that should not be there, they said they could not help me. I would have to go to the branch to fix my S.S. and find out the other name on the acct.. So I had to ruin my whole day. Drop everything I was doing and head to the bank with is a 20min ride and a decent amount of fuel (as I drive a large diesel truck with horrible gas mileage), had to wait online for 15 mins.
The teller at the bank was great. Did his best to assist me. Found out the problem was that one of the numbers in the s.s. # was hit twice accidentally (was a keypad hooked to computer no screen for me to see and # was never verified by banker) which threw off the next 2 numbers and left off the last one, he could not fix it. He said I would Have to Wait for Juanisha ** to come back from lunch to fix it. To sit and wait.
So I sat and waited for her to come back from lunch and then she did not even acknowledge me and told him to tell me I would have to come back with my S.S. card, I said, "Why when I did not need it to set up the acct, it was obviously an honest mistake and I just drove dropped everything I was doing today. Wasted my time and gas to come try to straighten this out and you are going to make me have to find the time during a work day to waste my gas and time again to fix this issue that counts easily be fixed now and also have the wrong S.S. # still attached to my acct." Made no sense to me so I closed my accounts which did did not need S.S. card for either and walked to her offices and said, "Thank you for the good customer service. You just cost the bank an account."
She could care less. Said nothing, then I closed my accounts and look for my reviews online and she said, "Okay thank you (only thing she said to me the whole time I was there)." All I wanted was my debit card activated and account straight. Horrible customer service. Once you are a customer and could care less about customer retention, if you go in there to set up an account the great treatment you get when setting up an account is not going to be the same treatment once you are a customer obviously.

Poor customer service, does not respect the customer's time, even when I had an appointment. Told me to come back at a later allotted time, and when I did, they said now won't be able to help me because they don't have time and to come back another day. No wonder they have such poor ratings. Would not recommend.
